Vljudno vabljene_i na predstavitev produkcije rezidenčnega umetnika programa SobaZaGoste/GuestRoomMaribor Gilda Bavčevića, ki bo v soboto, 18. 5. 2019, v dveh terminih: prvi termin od 11:00 do 14:00 in drugi termin od 19:00 do 21:00 v Galeriji K18, Koroška c. 18, Maribor.
Aktualni rezident SobeZaGoste/GuestRoomMaribor je 15. in 16. 5. 2019, izvedel več intervencij na različnih zapuščenih lokacijah (MTT - Mariborska tekstilna tovarna, podhod pri avtobusni postaji, bivša tovarna Borisa Kidriča, načrtovani Kulturni center MAKS, področje bivšega TAM-a)... v Mariboru.
Omenjene lokacije pričajo o propadlem gospodarstvu in prav zaradi tega so postale scenografija načrtovanih intervencij. Z uprizarjanjem absurdnega dejanja Gildo Bavčević po eni strani izpostavlja zapuščene prostore, po drugi pa nezmožnost družbe, da korektno pristopi k reševanju ekonomskih, socialnih ali okoljskih problemov.
Gildo Bavčević (r.1979, Split, Hrvaška) je multimedijski umetnik, ki se ukvarja predvsem z različnimi oblikami družbeno angažirane umetnosti in hkrati naslavlja družbene in politične probleme. Ustvaril je številne performanse, video performanse, video inštalacije, kratke filme in zvok v treh dolgometražnih filmih. Poleg samostojnih razstav, se je udeležil številnih skupinskih razstav in festivalov na Hrvaškem in v tujini. Je nagrajenec razstave 39. Splitskega Salona za video performans Plastični človek. Dobil je prvo nagrado 46. Revije hrvatskog stvaralaštva za dokumentarni film Mreža solidarnosti, s katerim je magistriral iz filmske in medijske produkcije na Splitski umetniški akademiji. Je član Hrvaškega društva likovnih umetnikov in Splitskega društva hrvaških likovnih umetnikov. Živi in ustvarja v Splitu.

Gildo Bavčević: Can Do More! Must Do More!
video performancesAt Wednesday, 15th of May and Thursday, 16th of May Gildo Bavčević will make several interventions at various abandoned locations in Maribor (MTT-Maribor tekstil industry, underpass near bus station, former factory Boris Kidrič, planned cultural center MAKS or space of former TAM). Mentioned locations are witnesses of collapsed economy and as such will become a scenography of planned interventions. With absurd acts Gildo Bavčević on one hand exposes abandoned spaces, on the other hand inability of society to correctly approaches to solving of economic, social or ecological issues.
Interventions will start at Wednesday at 11:00 in the whole, the site where cultural center MAKS was planned at Ruška cesta.

Gildo Bavčević ( b.1979, Split, Croatia) is a multimedia artist interested in different forms of socially engaged art and ways of tackling social and political issues. He has created many performances, video performances, video installations, short films, as well as the sound in three feature-length films. In addition to the presentation of his works in his solo shows, he has participated in a large number of group exhibitions and festivals in Croatia and abroad. He has won a prize at the 39th Split Salon exhibition of contemporary art (Splitski Salon) for his video performance Plastic Man Machine and first prize at 46th Croatian Film Festival (Revija hrvatskog filmskog stvaralaštva) for his documentary Mreža solidarnosti (Solidarity Network), which was his graduate thesis in 2013 with which he obtained his MA in Film and Media Production from Split's Art Academy, from which he received the title of assistant professor. He is a member of both the Croatian Freelance Artist Association and Split's Croatian Visual Artist Association. He lives and works in Split.
