Funduk: Iustitia-dulcis licking her three sugar-coated granddaughters who were led astray
On Thursday, 13 April, at 6 pm, we invite you to the Space of Art and Participation - OBRAT for the opening of the exhibition “Iustitia-dulcis licking her three sugar-coated granddaughters who were led astray” by the art collective Funduk.Iustitia-dulcis is a deity encompassing all the tastes and self-tastes of others. We honor Iustitia-dulcis for this capacity, in which we possibly degustate radical differences. We devote a space to her in which tongues intersect, where freedom of speech becomes lingual freedom. Tongues host tasting, touching, speaking.
Tongues are where pleasure and politics meet.
But how to taste and speak out simultaneously?
Did you ever feel the savory sensation of a word while pronouncing it? – Like “Justice” or “Law”.
Is it possible to experience what flavor these notions have in the mouth of a judge?
Our goddess calls everyone to taste justice. She preserves the self-tastes of others in sugar. Justitia-dulcis asks to savor them regardless of background or opinions. Her three columns are offered up as a ritualistic monument, as a moment to taste her diverging legacy, a degustation of tongue-tolerance.

Meet the residents: Funduk
On Thursday, 23 March, at 6 pm, we invite you to OBRAT (Revolution square 9, Maribor) for an introductory talk with the new trio of residents - the Funduk collective.
Başak Tuna (Turkey), Matteo Locci (Italy) and Maximilian Lehner (Austria) were selected last year through the opencall GuestRoomMaribor, to which 140 international artists responded. They will work in Maribor in March and April 2023.
FUNDUK COLLECTIVE is a group engaged in practice-oriented research, working in a constant feedback loop between performative experiences and textual elaborations. Whether it is seeing, touching, hearing or smelling; in the course of its ontological explorations, Funduk plays with a diverse corporeality that involves, among other things, still movement, looking up, rolling down and walking backwards. Together, they address contemporary issues with humour, situational awareness and participatory strategies that explore the world beyond the coded categories of the political spectrum.

On Thursday, 30 March 2023, at 16:00, we invite you to join us in front of the Vetrinjski dvor (Vetrinjska ulica 30, Maribor) for an InterestSafari with collective Funduk, formed by Basak Tuna, Maximilian Lehner and Matteo Locci.
InterestSafari: "The power of the tounge" with the collective Funduk
On Thursday, 30 March 2023, at 16:00, we invite you to join us in front of the Vetrinjski dvor (Vetrinjska ulica 30, Maribor) for an InterestSafari with collective Funduk, formed by Basak Tuna, Maximilian Lehner and Matteo Locci.
The InterestSafari, presented by Simon Žlahtič, art historian and curator, is a form of lecture and discussion on site during a walk around the city. It is an invitation to those interested to join us in exploring the themes that the artists want to explore during their stay at the RoomZaGosteMaribor residency.
The work of the Funduk collective is based on a performative exploration of urban environments, which consists of three elements: a theoretical approach to distraction, a design approach to exploring materials and a situational performative approach to exploring contexts. We will introduce them to the theme they are exploring during the residency - the phenomenon of language in all its possible meanings. We will address the topics of "language doctors" (a phrase in Slovenian meaning "lawyer"), spelling wars, dialect-literary language relations, national tensions, slander, and the list goes on and on.
You are invited and see you there!
