Anja Bezlova (Završnik) SLO

Anja Bezlova (officially Završnik) is a street and circus performer who started her training with Natalia and Ravil Sultanov in the Buffeto Laughter Laboratory and the Anna Monro ŠUGLA School of Street Theatre. From 2011 - 2014 she studied at the International School of Theater Creation HELIKOS, in Florence. She is a member of Globus Hystericus, a theatre company that tours all over Europe and won the URBANA LJUBLJANA award for the best Slovenian street performance. During her residency in Maribor, she will develop and expand on her performance Futraj my ego 2 (Feed my ego 2).

FEED MY EGO 2 - Freestanding amusing short performance

Four years later, the 2019 multipesonage "Feed My Ego" has its logical sequel. Anja Bezlova, who has been roaming around national and European street festivals as a member of various theatre companies for many years, has in the meantime been creating an intimate image of her world, and "feeds" her ego again with the stimuli that surround her.

The continuation of her not overlooked debut, in which Bezlova, as befits a multipersonage, used all of her then living characters, is constructed in a similar way, but with an important difference. Everything that the first part predicted really happened. Anja's Majda from Mengeš, the character of the aggressive peacemaker who was collecting signatures for a ban on war at the time, has now lived through the war. More than 500 real signatures were not enough to stop the wave of nonsense we are witnessing today. Meanwhile, Clown Rose is gone, GA-GA Sugardady is no longer in prison, and Alpha has no problem selling his arsenal of weapons.

All the problematisation of militarisation, the objectification of the female body, everything that the first part dealt with, all of it was obviously in vain. In a few years, the world has become for us too, a fun, glittering ball, interwoven with musical hits, referential lyrics, a contorted history and a clear but cruel future.

That's why the new 'Feed my ego' is a show that couldn't have come sooner than just now. It is a show that pushes away while it embraces and loves while it shatters. It is a performance where Anja erects monuments on stage, monuments that would never have existed otherwise.
